Facebook is working on Talk, a new messaging platform designed for kids 13 and older that will monitor and protect their presence on the Net
Facebook is working on a new messaging application designed for teens. The new tool, which will be called Talk, will have to protect the rights and privacy of the youngest in a more stringent than what is currently done on platforms such as Messenger or WhatsApp.
The new Talk app should be designed for teenagers aged 13 and up. It will, of course, allow parents to monitor their children’s conversations, topics, attachments and hours of use while using it. Some experts have been critical of the social: the monitoring won’t push kids to install Talk. According to Facebook, however, this system aided by a good awareness campaign will convince teens and parents of the risks that younger kids currently run on social media like Instagram and Snapchat.
How Talk Works
According to early information Talk will have two usage options. The teenage boy will be able to use the app to chat with his peers, but the message will also be sent to his parent via Messenger. Obviously, to sign up for Talk, there will be no need to also sign up for Facebook. Despite this, the two services will be connected, most likely directly to the parent’s profile on social. In this way, the father or mother will also be able to receive the various information and usage statistics of their son or daughter on Talk. After years of anarchy now social networks are becoming a place with more regulations and in the future it may be normal for a parent to prohibit their child from joining social platforms until a certain age limit. This does not mean total closure. It is right that alternative services, such as Talk, are born, which present less freedom but protect the rights and privacy of children on the Net.
