From Asia comes yet another rumor about when Xiaomi 12, the new Chinese top of the range, will arrive: Xiaomi would like to take advantage of the so-called “Double 12”
The launch date of Xiaomi 12 has not yet been made official, but it has been the subject of rumors and indiscretions of all kinds for several weeks already. The reason is simple: Xiaomi 12 could be the first top-of-the-line smartphone with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip (formerly Snapdragon 898), but Motorola could come first with its 2022 flagship.
At the same time, along with the Xiaomi-Motorola challenge, the Qualcomm-MediaTek one will be consumed. The latter has already announced its next chip for the top of the range 2022: it is the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and, perhaps, will arrive after the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (which will be presented, instead, on November 30). It is clear, however, that the winner will not be whoever announces the product first, but whoever gets to market first with the product itself. Hence the ballet of dates, which with regard to Xiaomi 12 today takes a shade of color because, from China, came yet another rumor.
Xiaomi 12? The 12-12
It seems like a play on words, or even better a play on numbers, but it would really seem that the release date of Xiaomi 12 has been set for December 12, that is 12-12-21. Suggesting this is the fact that in China there is the so-called “Double 12”, a kind of Black Friday held precisely on December 12 each year.
Originally thought of as a day for couples, the Chinese Double 12 has quickly turned into yet another shopping festival. What better occasion, then, to present Xiaomi 12?
Xiaomi 12: when it really arrives
Announcements aside, the real question is when will Xiaomi 12 arrive on the market. The answer, this time certainly, is that it will not arrive in 2021 but we will see it “in the first quarter of 2022”. That is, as usual, between January 1 and March 31.
Xiaomi Mi 11, we remember, was presented in China on February 8, 2021 and then arrive on the international market, including Italy, in March 2021. It is not at all excluded, therefore, that even if it will be announced on 12-12 this year the Xiaomi 12 will really arrive in our pockets only in March next year.
