How to solve Bluetooth connection problems in seconds

You can’t always use Bluetooth to send files to a smartphone or to connect two devices. Let’s figure out what to do in these cases

It has become an irreplaceable technology, because it allows you to connect different devices together. We use it, for example, to associate smartphones with car infotainment systems or to send images or documents to a PC. We’re talking about the Bluetooth connection.

But it doesn’t always work, for a number of reasons that we’ll explain and try to solve later. As a result, wireless connectivity goes from being a convenient and useful tool for making multiple electronic objects communicate to something extremely useless. When the Bluetooth connection doesn’t work as it should, it becomes, in fact, really difficult to connect two or more devices. It may happen that one of them doesn’t recognize the other one, or that the radio signal is not strong enough (or works only with hiccups) to transmit, for example, a song from your smartphone to speakers that support the wireless data connection standard.

That said, let’s try to understand how to remedy some of the most common problems that you can encounter with Bluetooth.

Distance

Many people make the mistake of moving too far away while trying to connect two devices via Bluetooth. Distance is one of the main enemies of wireless connection. The ideal, according to the opinion of many experts, is not to exceed 10 meters. Besides, the further away the devices to be connected are, the more obstacles increase. The radio signal, for example, could be obstructed, losing quality, by walls – especially if they are thick – or by other furniture and objects in the house or office.

Interferences

The Bluetooth connection, as it is known, uses radio waves to transfer data from one device to another. Sometimes it is possible that the standard doesn’t work because of some electronic objects, which are guilty of interfering with the signal. There are some devices that, like Bluetooth, use or emit radio waves: Wi-Fi routers, smartphones, microwave ovens, smart TVs, remote controls. In these cases, if the Bluetooth connection has some problem, you could try to turn off some of these devices.

Other technical causes

This is often only a temporary problem, which can be solved by turning off and restarting one or both Bluetooth devices. Many times, however, the problem is caused by the battery. If the wireless electronic object does not have enough charge, in fact, it will struggle to connect with another device or will not have the necessary strength to transmit a good signal.

You could also try to turn on and off the Bluetooth connection several times.

It may also happen that the Bluetooth standards are responsible, in case of connection error. There are two of them: the second one – Bluetooth LE (low energy) – differs from the first one because it needs less energy to work. The two standards don’t always get along. What to do? You can try checking if the manufacturer of the older device has released an update for the “old” Bluetooth.

Finally, it can also be useful to clear the Bluetooth cache. A little “cleaning” will only do good. On Android, it’s very easy: just go into settings, locate the Bluetooth app and clear the cache.
