Apple has unveiled the new AirPods Max wireless headphones: high-fidelity audio thanks to the H1 chip
The AirPods Max are Apple’s new wireless headphones with an over-ear design that have just been unveiled. The Cupertino-based company has focused on high-fidelity audio thanks to the use of the H1 chip and advanced computational audio software that offers an immersive and revolutionary listening experience.
Expectations for the wireless headphones are high: the pads made of memory foam fit the user’s ear to immerse themselves in the sound and high-fidelity audio is provided by adaptive equalizer, active noise cancellation, spatial audio and more. In addition, the headphones will be able to be used to listen to music, watch movies, make phone calls or talk to Siri through any device that is connected to the user’s iCloud. As usual, Apple’s high quality comes at a high cost: the starting price for the AirPods Max is over 600 euros.
AirPods Max: the over-ear design
The acoustic design of Apple’s new wireless headphones is designed for maximum comfort for every user. The top band is made of breathable mesh fabric and is perforated, while the structure is designed to distribute weight and reduce pressure on the head. The length of the telescoping rods can be adjusted to any user’s needs. In addition, the ear cushions are made of memory foam designed to create an effective acoustic seal and ensure an immersive listening experience.
The AirPods Max headphones are then equipped with a Digital Crown, inspired by that of the Apple Watch, which allows you to control the volume, manage the playback of audio tracks, answer a phone call and still use the Siri virtual assistant. There is also a noise control button, which allows you to easily switch between active noise cancellation and Transparent mode.
AirPods Max: Revolutionized Listening Experience
Each pad is equipped with an H1 chip designed by Apple to take full advantage of computational audio and revolutionize users’ listening experience. Computational audio software takes advantage of each of the chip’s 10 audio cores, which can perform 9 billion operations per second, and integrates an adaptive equalizer and other features such as active noise cancellation, Transparency mode and spatial audio.
The adaptive equalizer lets you adjust the sound to suit the wearability and fit of the pads, while active noise cancellation lets you focus entirely on what you’re listening to in your headphones. Using the Transparency mode, you will also hear the noises of the surrounding environment, while the spatial audio ensures that using dynamic head tracking sounds are placed anywhere in space, so you are completely immersed in the music.
AirPods Max: battery life and compatibility
The new wireless headphones from Apple allow you to listen to music, watch movies and TV series, play video games, make phone calls and interact with Siri. The battery provides up to 20 hours of high-fidelity audio, talk time or movie playback with active noise cancellation and spatial audio enabled.
AirPods Max setup is automatic with a simple tap to all devices connected to the user’s iCloud, including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Operations and devices switch seamlessly thanks to automatic switching, so you can listen to music from your Mac and then take a call that comes in on your iPhone. Once the call ends, the headphones will return to the music playing from your Mac.
AirPods Max: price and colors
Apple has unveiled and enabled pre-order on its store for the new AirPods Max wireless headphones starting December 8, but for those who purchase a pair, shipments will begin December 15. Pricing starts at €629 for these headphones that are available in five different colors: sidereal gray, silver, light blue, green and pink.
