Netflix releases a short video full of cast and plot indiscretions. Here’s what it reveals and all the news about the TV series
The long-awaited announcement is here: the cast of Sex Education is finally back on set to film the third season. The news was given by the actors themselves who, through a nice clip published by Netflix, show themselves busy preparing their bags and go back to work, after weeks of stop.
In fact, the filming had been interrupted in April because of the pandemic and since then the public has not had any official news, apart from some rumors related to the resumption of work. At first it was thought they would start in August, but all was silent, but now the communication is clear and strong: soon we will see the new episodes of the series on Netflix. It is no coincidence that the platform has decided to communicate this through the actors. In fact, the characters of the TV series, with their well-defined stories and personalities represent one of the key elements of the show’s success. In addition, the video is short but hides several key clues to understand both the entry of new characters and the way in which the plot will evolve. We just have to comment it together!
Sex Education 3: the trailer reveals a lot of news
The video was launched by the English Netflix account on Twitter and then taken up by channels around the world, including the Italian one. In our country, in fact, the TV series is one of the most followed in recent years. The announcement leaves no doubt, here it is:

That CAPSLOCK also represents the scream of joy of many fans who have been waiting for almost a year for the new episodes. But what do we see in the clip and especially what does it tell us about the plot and the cast?
The first certainty is the return of Gillian Anderson, the actress plays the sexologist Jean Milburn and mother of the protagonist Otis. She, one of the most beloved figures of the series, appears first in the video in a very close-up of the front camera of her smartphone. She looks at the lens and laughs. Then as she touches her “lockdown hair” (as she puts it) she reveals “I’m getting ready for the Sex Education shoot”. So begins the clip that shows, gradually, all the actors preparing to return to the set.
Sex Education 3: the cast
In addition to Gillian Anderson, the clip features a number of actors we will meet in the third season of Sex Education . First appears the main character Asa Butterflies, who plays Otis Milburn. He introduces himself to the audience in a mask and leaves the house greeting his cats. Chris Jenks, who plays Steve, is relaxed in the bathtub but receives the announcement and quickly prepares for his return to the set.
The actor has not played a major role in previous seasons, but in the clip he seems to be among the main characters: does this suggest that he will have an important presence in the new episodes? We’ll see.
All the actors are introduced: Connor Swindells (Adam Groff), Jojo Makari (Kyle), Chinenye Ezeudu (Viv), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Alistar Petrie (Mr Groff). Follows an unknown character, whose face is hidden by a plaster cast and accompanied by several question marks: so we will have a new entry in the cast, but Netflix does not reveal more.
In the clip, however, some of the main characters are missing: it is not shown the much-loved Emma Mackey (Maeve Wiley) nor Ncuti Gatwa (Eric Effiong). Despite this, we know that they will still be part of the cast, at least according to the rumors spread in previous weeks. Also in this case we can only wait for the official trailer to better understand the evolution of the series.
Sex Education 3: the plot
Watching the clip then emerge some clues about the plot. The most important one concerns Gillian Anderson, who walks on the set with a pillow under her shirt: in the third season she will have to manage a sudden pregnancy and this will be one of the main themes that the show will deal with.
Sex education and emancipation, but also interpersonal relationships and the different declinations of love will still be the main themes addressed by the TV series.

After watching the video, the question that arises is this: when will we be able to see the new episodes? According to rumors, filming will take a few weeks, but then post-production time will also have to wait. At the end of the day, we will have to wait for the first months of 2021 to enjoy Sex Education 3.
