How to deactivate TIM paid services

Have you just received a text message alerting you to the activation of a paid service on your TIM card? Here’s the procedure to deactivate your subscription and block them

Very often we don’t even notice. All it takes is a touch on the wrong banner or a little inattention and, within a few seconds, you find yourself with an SMS announcing the activation of value-added services active on your cell phone.

Also known as VAS services, these are those paid services that give access to news, games, funny videos and much more. Too bad, though, that the costs are never too clear and you end up with weekly subscriptions that drain your remaining credit and swell your monthly bills. To avoid ending up with weekly subscriptions and unwanted paid services you can not only deactivate them, but you can decide to block them at any time, so you don’t have to worry about their activation anymore.

In the following paragraphs, we will explain how to deactivate TIM paid services, how to activate the block of paid services and how to request a refund of the subscriptions paid in case of incorrect activation.

Deactivate TIM paid services

Have you received an SMS alerting you of the activation of a paid service but you did not request it (or, at least, you did not realize you had done so)? No problem: deactivating the value-added service is quite simple.

First of all, you will have to call the toll-free number 800.44.22.99, a service set up and managed by Agcom precisely to deactivate paid subscriptions regardless of your telephone operator. A recorded voice will guide you through the deactivation procedure and, in a matter of seconds, you will be able to deactivate the service activated by mistake.

If this procedure does not give the desired results, access your private area MyTIM Mobile, then click on Services and find the section Content Services and Internet. Here you will find the list of value-added services active on your phone line: you can deactivate them in a few clicks and avoid, in this way, to see your remaining credit decrease.

Another way to deactivate TIM paid services is to send a free SMS to 119 with the text “deactivation services VAS”. Within a few tens of seconds, the TIM systems should take care of your request and cancel the various subscriptions on your mobile phone.

The last tool at your disposal to deactivate paid services is the text message you received when activating the service itself. In the text, in fact, there are also indications to deactivate it: there should be a web address or a phone number to which you can send an SMS with the words “STOP”.

Blocking TIM paid services

As mentioned at the beginning, deactivation is not the only way to defend yourself from paid services. To “prevent”, in fact, you can request the blocking of paid services from your operator, so that not even accidentally clicking on some banner will risk having to pay expensive weekly subscriptions. The easiest way to block value-added services is to call TIM customer care, speak to an operator and ask for TIM SMS barring. Within a few seconds the option will be activated (confirmation will be given directly by the operator of the TIM service center) and you can surf in peace.

Refund of TIM paid subscriptions

In case of incorrect activation of paid services (you have clicked on a banner without realizing it, or your child has made some mess while playing with the smartphone) you can ask TIM to refund the amount already paid in the form of subscription. The request for reimbursement can be made either via the toll-free number managed by Agcom (800.44.22.99), or by sending a free SMS to 119 with the text “claim VAS services not required” or by contacting TIM customer care directly.
