This is not a mandatory update, but only voluntary. Nor is it a revolutionary update: in fact, it only improves the stability of the operating system.
The update KB4550945 is meant for the 1909 and 1903 versions of Windows 10 and is available for download within Windows Update. To underline an important fact: this is one of the last unnecessary updates released by Microsoft for its operating system: from May, in fact, will only be available updates dedicated to security or that improve the operating system and add new features. A choice that Microsoft has taken after the outbreak of the pandemic and the beginning of smart working that has complicated the work of technicians. Support will be guaranteed, but updates will only come out for important issues, at least for a while.

The update KB4550945 for Windows 10 is not “revolutionary”, but only brings with it the resolution of some problems reported in the previous weeks and months. What’s new in the KB4550945 update?
First and foremost, it fixes a rather annoying bug that was affecting some apps: after updating them to the latest version they stopped working. The problem of notifications being disabled while using a VPN is also fixed. Improvements also for Windows Update: now the program for downloading and installing Windows 10 updates should no longer crash.
Finally, the problem with the printer that was reported a few months ago and did not allow printing to be sent has also been fixed.
How to download and install update KB4550945
To install the new update KB4550945 you have to go into settings, click on “Update and Security” and then Windows Update from the left column. The update KB4550945 should be present under “Optional available updates” with the caption “2020-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based systems (KB4550945)”. Pressing on “Download and Install” starts the installation of the update.
