LG V30 official, 6” Full Vision screen and top features

The South Korean company presents the new LG V30: Snapdragon 835 supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Behind is a dual camera

By now we knew almost everything about the LG V30: the leaked rumors in recent weeks had revealed the design, internal features and new features developed by the South Korean company for its new top of the range. The official presentation only served to confirm the rumors and to unveil some hidden features.

The LG V series has always been characterized by a second screen placed at the top that was used to control notifications and to quickly access the applications you used most. With LG V30, the South Korean company completely changes the design and gets closer to the G series. The V30 mounts a single 6-inch FullVision screen, with even thinner bezels than the LG G6. For the new top of the range, LG has used the best components that the market offers, starting with the Snapdragon 835 chipset. But the South Korean company has also focused a lot on the audio and photographic compartments, developing new innovative solutions designed for the most demanding users.

Features LG V30

Inside the LG V30 we find the best components on the market. After the small disappointment of the LG G6 that had on board a chipset of 2016 (Snapdragon 821), LG V30 mounts the Snapdragon 835 supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory (which in the Plus version becomes 128GB). The storage space can also be increased through the microSD card.

The LG V30 is the second step in the South Korean company’s ongoing work to reduce bezels. With the LG G6, the FullVision display had greatly reduced the black spaces present above and below the front of the smartphone: with the LG V30, the bezels have almost practically disappeared. We’re not quite there yet with a full-screen smartphone, but we’re very close. The Fullsivion OLED display is six inches and has a QuadHD+ (2880×1440) resolution of 538 ppi.

The smartphone in addition to having top performance is also very durable. As was the case with its two predecessors (LG V10 and LG V20) the LG V30 is dustproof, water resistant and has received MIL-STD810G military certification. Under the connectivity point of view, LG V30 integrates Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C2.0 which, however, will be improved thanks to a system update by increasing its speed. The battery is 3300mAh and supports wireless charging.

LG V30 Photo Compartment

In the days leading up to the presentation of the LG V30, there was a lot of talk about two features of the device: the photo and audio compartments. Let’s start with the former.

The LG V30 mounts a dual rear camera with a 16 Megapixel sensor with f/1.6 aperture and OIS and EIS stabilization while the second sensor is a 130-degree wide-angle 13 Megapixel lens with f/1.9 aperture. The front camera is a 5 Megapixel with 90-degree wide-angle lens. Very interesting is the photographic software developed by the South Korean company that offers two new features: Cine Effect and Point Zoom. With Cine Effect will be possible to shoot videos like real directors, using filters provided by LG. Point Zoom, on the other hand, is a special algorithm that allows you to zoom in on a person even if they’re not in the center of the screen. Finally, for fans of video, the South Korean company provides LG-Cine Log, a function for post-production video editing.

Audio compartment LG V30

To make a smartphone complete in all respects, LG could not neglect the audio compartment. LG V30 is the first phone in the world to use MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology that allows streaming videos to be listened to with superior audio quality. In addition, LG V30 features a 32-bit Quad Hi-Fi DAC with audio calibrated in partnership with B&O PLAY. Thanks to the partnership with Bang&Olufsen inside the box are a pair of headphones from the Danish company.

The Floating Bar

While the second screen is gone, on the other hand LG introduces the Floating Bar, a pop-up bar where the most used apps are present. LG V30 is launched on the market with Android Nougat 7.1.2, but it will definitely receive Android Oreo 8.0.

Coming Google Assistant in Italian

Big news announced during the presentation of LG V30 is the arrival of Google Assistant in Italian. The new virtual assistant of the Mountain View company will be launched soon in Italy and Spain, two of the countries that were still missing.

Price and release date

There is no information about the release date and price of the LG V30. For the time being, we only know the colors: the device will be available in Italy in Cloud Silver and Moroccan Blue colors and also in the exclusive V30+ Aurora Black variant with 128GB of internal storage.
