HBO Max doesn’t stop, after announcing the Friends special, then blocked because of the pandemic, and also the revival of Gossip Girl, now it has also thought of all the fans of Sex and The City, the cult TV series of the nineties.
This time it won’t be a two-hour special designed to remember the old days, as planned for Friends, but a real mini-series dedicated to the return of the group of friends, the funniest and most fashionable of News York. The revival will always be set in the Big Apple and will consist of ten episodes, where the protagonists of the series will return to the places that made them famous about twenty years ago. We will find Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda while there will be a big absentee, Samantha. In fact, Kim Cattrall, the actress who played her, had repeatedly stated that she wanted to leave behind that role and the show. Nevertheless, the audience is excited to see the adventures of the three friends again on the small screen.
Sex and the City: a global success
Sex and the City is one of the most representative shows of the nineties. Thanks to the perfect mix of setting, stories and characters has received numerous awards, including seven Emmys for Best American Comedy. The series is inspired by the novel of the same name by Candace Bushnell.
The protagonists of the original series were four friends, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall). Set in New York, it told about their daily events, between impossible loves, shopping and evenings chatting.

The remake will be titled “And Just Like That” and will tell the story of Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda and their friendship now become thirty years. We will see them as women and struggling with problems related to maturity, without forgetting their love for fashion and gossip. Of course, there will be love intrigues, confessions and chats between friends. In short, the actresses are always them and it will be nice to see them again many years later. Of course, the series will be set in the streets of New York.
The idea is entrusted to the showrunner and executive producer Michael Patrick King, who had already directed several episodes of the original series and won several Emmys.
Surely the success of Cobra Kai had a certain weight in the choice to return the old protagonists on the small screen: Cobra Kai fact is the remake of the cult film Karate Kid, and resumes the lives of the old protagonists thirty years later, putting in the game the same actors, now grown up. According to some previews provided by HBO Max, filming of the remake is expected to begin in the spring of 2021. So it won’t be seen streaming until 2022.
