Where do you surf faster with 5G? Here’s a ranking of the nations offering the best coverage compiled by Open Signal
Higher speed and better quality of service, that’s the much-vaunted 5G, the new standard for phone communication. It will officially go live by 2020, but many operators have accelerated the pace to make the super-fast connection available to their users before that date.
5G offers extremely fast download speeds along with extremely low latency, the system’s response time to online user requests. According to operators, 5G is expected to be between 100 and 1,000 times faster than current 4G LTE, meaning that downloading a 4K movie from a video streaming platform will only take a few seconds. 5G is becoming a standard in many countries, thanks to the first offerings from phone operators. So it’s possible to start making comparisons between countries, to see where people are surfing faster.
The Speed of 5G According to OpenSignal
OpenSignal, the independent mobile analytics company, tracked the maximum speed at which users were able to travel on the network under 5G coverage in different countries. Compared to the last report released during the last month of July that saw the United Kingdom and Spain excel, in September four new countries have been included: Germany with a maximum speed recorded of 740 Mbps, Finland with a speed of 933 Mbps, Romania with 712 Mbps and, finally, Kuwait. Germany, Finland and Romania are the countries with the fastest 5G coverage ever, outperforming Spain and the United Kingdom, holders of the record won two months ago. Of the eight countries monitored in July, only the US saw no increase in maximum download speeds, while the UK, Switzerland and South Korea saw increases of less than 10%.
5G: fastest countries
The ranking of the countries with the fastest 5G coverage sees the United States in the lead with a maximum speed of 1,815 Mbps followed by Australia, Switzerland and South Korea, all countries equipped with a 5G capable of reaching a maximum speed of more than 1 Gigabit per second. Australia, Switzerland and South Korea benefit from a 5G medium bandwidth spectrum link, usually at 3.3 or 3.8 Ghz, while operators in the United States have the 5G mmWave link with a much higher capacity.
