The creator of Bridgerton has made a new series: Inventing Anna

When it comes to television series, the production company Shondaland is synonymous with success. While Grey’s Anatomy reaches season 18 and Bridgerton on Netflix becomes one of the most popular series, here is the creator Shonda Rhimes presents the new television series: Inventing Anna.

The adventures of the new character born from the imagination of Rhimes this time are set in New York, where the legendary German heiress of Instagram is nothing but a clever con artist. Investigating this mysterious character that is Anna Delvey, played by Julia Garner, is the journalist Vivian, whose shoes are dressed by Anna Chlumsky. The new television series will consist of 10 episodes, each of 60 minutes, and the executive production is entrusted to Betsy Beers. At the moment, an official release date has not yet been announced on the streaming platform Netflix, which, however, has begun to present the first images from the set.

Inventing Anna: the plot

Inventing Anna tells the story of the journalist Vivian, who investigates the case of Anna Delvey: a young woman and legendary German heiress of Instagram accused of fraud in New York. Anna allegedly stole not only the hearts of rich and powerful men in the Big Apple, but also their money.

A halo of mystery is created around Anna’s character as she awaits the trial against her: is she New York’s greatest con artist or is she simply the new portrait of the American dream? Meanwhile, a love-hate relationship forms between Anna and Vivian. The television series is inspired by the article Jessica Pressler, who is also producer of the show, How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People, published in New York Magazine.

Inventing Anna: the cast

The role of the protagonist Vivian is dressed by Anna Chlumsky (Veep – Incompetent Vice President), while Anna Delvey is Julia Garner (Ozark, Dirty John). Also in the cast are Katie Lowes (Scandal) who plays Rachel, a willing follower of Anna’s; Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black) plays Kacy Duke, a celebrity manager and life coach sucked into Anna’s vortex; and Alexis Floyd (The Bold Type) is Neff, an aspiring filmmaker.

Inventing Anna: when it comes out

The TV series born from Shondaland, formerly the successful producer of Bridgerton and Grey’s Anatomy, will consist of 10 episodes and the first images from the set have already been released by Netflix. To see the adventures of Inventing Anna in streaming will have to wait for the release on the platform, which is expected in 2022.
