IOS 13.1: what’s new and how to update your iPhone

Apple releases the first iOS 13 update. In addition to security patches and bug fixes, the Cupertino company introduces new features

Not even a week after the official launch and here comes already the first patch for iOS 13. Since the early hours of the morning is being distributed iOS 13.1, the new version of the operating system for iPhone and iPod containing some very important security patches (one of all: the one that prevents the unlocking of the device using a trick of Siri), but also adds new features and useful tools to make the most of the features of the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

It should not be surprising that Apple has released so soon the first patch of its mobile operating system. It is, in fact, a custom for the house of Cupertino, which collects all the indications coming from beta testers and merges them into a single initial mega-update.

iOS 13.1: what’s new

In addition to security updates and bug fixes in some Apple-developed apps (such as Mail and Calendar, just to name two of the apps that have received the most “fixes”), iOS 13.1 introduces some new features that had already been announced in the past weeks and months but were not included in the first release of the operating system.

Among the most important and interesting ones we find the optimization of charging, enabled on all compatible devices. This will make it possible to prolong the life expectancy of the battery and the device, preventing it from spoiling quickly and forcing the user to change the phone in a couple of years at most. With the new iOS update, owners of the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone Xr will be able to activate and use the Performance Management feature, which will monitor the status of the system to prevent it from suddenly shutting down.

Other new features, however, will not please users too much. With iOS 13.1, the check code that verifies if you use non-original spare parts is activated. Specifically, iOS 13.1 will display an on-screen notification if it fails to verify that the installed replacement battery or new display panel are genuine products installed in Apple Stores.

How to update to iOS 13.1

Like any other iPhone system update, iOS 13.1 can be downloaded and installed from the settings of a compatible phone.
