There are alternative search engines through which you can get better results than those achieved with Google Search
When we talk about search engines, the thought immediately runs to Google, considered the Search Engine. Google is undoubtedly one of the best, but there are many other viable alternatives, which compared to the search engine of Mountain View offer functionality “special”.
The creature of Mountain View with the passage of time has changed, becoming increasingly effective in meeting the demands of users. It is estimated that the number of pages viewed through Google amounts to several tens of billions per day. And this is precisely one of Google’s strong points: its ability to continuously renew itself. Finding better seems almost impossible. To think of using a different search engine seems, for many people, unrealistic. Yet, it is not always so. There are alternative search engines to Google through which you can get better results.
Ecosia
Let’s start with Ecosia. It is a very particular search engine: it allocates 80% of the advertising revenue, obtained through the users’ navigation, in projects that aim to plant trees in Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Indonesia and Peru. The search engine presents itself with clean graphics. On the main page, in addition to the search bar, the number of trees planted is displayed, a count that grows by the second and that at the moment has exceeded 8 million.
Yippy
Another solution different from Google is Yippy, a search engine that combines the results of the search in groups. The way Yippy works is similar to most search engines: you enter the keyword and the engine responds by displaying a list of sites. The difference is that on the left side you can see the “clusters” divided by category. Yippy thus allows you to make a deeper search.
Qwant
Qwant defines itself as the search engine that respects privacy. A bit like DuckDuckGo, Qwant’s special feature is that it does not use cookies or other tools to track users. The search engine is also graphically appreciable. In addition to the search bar, in fact, Qwant shows a series of news divided by category. Also, on the sidebar, you can customize your search by choosing one of the sections.
Kiddle
Kiddle is a child-safe search engine. It is, in fact, a customized version of Google that allows you to search only for content that is suitable for young children, blocking results that are unsuitable for viewing by weaker age groups. The search engine includes four categories: web, images, news and video. Kiddle, however, is not the official version of Google for children.
Giphy
Giphy, as you can also guess from its name, is a search engine specialized in GIFs. Giphy allows, in fact, to find only animated images and works by entering a keyword in the search bar. Alternatively you can browse through the many categories in which GIFs are collected.
iFind3d
This is a very special search engine, useful for searching printable 3D models. iFind3D, developed by a Dutch 3D printer reseller, collects in one place about 750 thousand drawings, which can be saved or downloaded. At the moment iFind3D is only in beta version.
Nasa Images
Nasa Images is undoubtedly, especially for those who are passionate about astronomy, one of the best tools to search for images taken in space. Nasa Images collects thousands of photos, videos and audio files collected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration during its missions.
Arianna
Arianna relies on Bing technologies and supports all the main personal assistants: Cortana, Bing and Alexa. In the next few years it will be able to better handle natural language requests and users will be able to query the search engine by asking normal questions.
