The range of channels dedicated to information on the satellite platform doubles in a single day.
At least 23 more TV channels in one day: from December 18, the 23 channels of TGR, Rai’s Testata Giornalistica Regionale, which has editorial offices in all Italian regions and broadcasts the historic TG Regione and in-depth programs such as Morning News and Buongiorno Regione, will arrive on the Tivùsat platform. The new Rai channels will be added to the already rich offer of all news channels on tivùsat.
The new channels will be available from number 301 to 323, one for each region from North to South (number 301 broadcasts the Aosta Valley TG, number 323 that of Sicily), plus those reserved for linguistic minorities. This is a real revolution for RAI, which now brings regional information to the national level. It is also a great convenience for those who live outside their region of origin but want to continue to receive Rai information from their homeland. Here’s how to see the new channels and which are the compatible decoders able to display them.
How to see the 23 new channels on tivùsat
To see the new Rai channels on tivùsat most viewers won’t have to do anything except go to the channel of their own Region from the morning of December 18. With some tivùsat-certified decoders, however, a simple retuning may be necessary.
All this, however, with a limitation: the 23 Rai regional channels will be broadcast only in HD. So those who have a Tivùsat decoder certified HD or 4K will not have any problem, while those who have an old SD decoder will not see the new channels. All Tivùsat decoders have identification labels through which it is very easy to understand if they can, or cannot, display the 23 new channels.
A very simple way to know if your Tivùsat decoder will be able to display the new channels is to go to Rai1 HD or Rai3 HD (channels 101 and 103). If the channels are displayed correctly, then the decoder will also show the 23 new regional channels without any problem.
Tivùsat: the change goes through DVB S-2
For those who have an old standard resolution tivùsat decoder, the time has come to upgrade to a tivùsatHD or tivùsat4K certified decoder. Rai, Mediaset, Discovery, Sky and other broadcasters have in fact already switched or are about to switch (by the end of 2020) to the DVB S-2 transmission standard.
This standard is the satellite answer to DVB T-2 of the second generation digital terrestrial and allows the transmission of many more channels in high resolution (or even 4K, but only on tivùsat) using much less bandwidth.
