Sony shut down the ability to install Linux on the PS3 in one of their firmware updates earlier in the decade.
So you probably can't install it without doing a firmware downgrade, which can't be done legally.
On the other hand, if I remember correctly, the PS3 only had 256MB of RAM, which for running Linux is very, very little. And I don't know if you're going to be able to find a moderately up-to-date distribution that's capable of running on CELL processors like the PS3's.
I'm not sure if you're going to be able to find one that runs on CELL processors like the PS3.
