Does the length of an Ethernet cable matter? I have a 20 meter cable from the modem to my computer. I was wondering if that affects my internet speed.

It does matter, a standard ethernet cable supports up to 100 metres of distance, for longer distances you need a repeater every 100 metres.
As long as the cable you use meets the EIA 568A/568B standard, there are no sources of interference such as motors, power cables or fluorescent tubes in its path and it is not damaged, it does not affect your internet speed.
