The camera photos and videos from your phone. This is standard for digital cameras. You'll usually see inside that folder another folder (or others) with names like Camera or 101-Brand. That's where your digital photos and videos are.
DCIM is a standard folder on digital cameras and smartphones. This is where the photos and videos you take are stored. If your phone has a USB stick and you direct the destination of the photos and videos to the USB stick it will automatically create a DCIM folder on the USB.
In addition to photos and videos it also stores screenshots, Google Photos, image downloads from Pinterest, GIFs that you create...etc. In short, it is a folder to store everything related to images and videos.
