In my case, as a programmer I prefer Android, not because it is better but because it is free, and because there is more diversity in the long run it will end up being better.

iOS is going to give you fewer problems for sure, it's also more stable because it doesn't let you install weird apps that slow down the operating system a lot. Android has more options in the settings menus to tinker with, so iOS is better for the tinkerers.
