There are viruses even in the choir organ of my village church
There are vulnerabilities that would allow a cracker to take control of the system.
However they would not be viruses as such and as they are known for Windows.
That usually slows down the computer, crashes it or locks it up and won't let it boot up.

Of course there are, fortunately for Linux users it is more profitable to make viruses for Windows, as Linux is traditionally safer.
There have been, and they can be made
The problem is that nobody bothers to waste time designing a virus that exploits a vulnerability for two reasons.
The first is because those vulnerabilities are often patched in a very short time, sometimes in less than a day or two. And the other is that you are then left with finding an undocumented vulnerability... that is: finding one that nobody has found before.
So it's very difficult for such a virus to succeed, so why the effort?

There are viruses for all operating systems. Linux being an open source project is the most monitored and has the most updates. If it has all that, it also has people who make all kinds of malware to extract information or control computers.
Remember, fairness is artificial.
