With no keyboard or mouse recognition, I have checked and followed almost every suggestion I have found on the net, with no solution until I disconnected all devices and removed a hub with no direct mains connection that I had plugged into the Mac mini. Thanks for all the input.

Power on the MacBook Pro from another user, partition or external drive with the operating system to be sure it's not a software issue. If it still doesn't work, it's probably a hardware problem and you'll need to take it in for repair.
