CSS font-smoothing: antialiasied makes no difference?

2

It is possible in the late Fireworks cs6 (and from what I read in photoshop too) to optimize the rendering of the fonts. Searching to see it was possible to apply this in the web pages vi there are sim resources to accomplish the same:

-webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;

Testing, however, I saw no difference! And from what I researched on the sites, even in the examples I saw no difference whatsoever. What I would like to know is if this is already implemented in browsers by default? Or is there really difference in font rendering when using these CSS properties? Or if not, if indeed font-smoothing is a property that carries more CSS code. If you want to point out sites that further clarify this question as well.

OBS: I'm not talking about image rendering, but rather about text source itself. Thanks

Subpixel rendering generates a better result on current monitors, formerly used due to the technology of older monitors.

I suggest you read this article that explains the differences well and why which no longer uses the antialised.
