What is better for computers, installable or portable software?

Of course the locally installed ones. That is, portables usually stay on a USB drive, which is slower (depending on your computer and the level of USB protocol they handle, 2.0, 3.0, etc.).
However, for a user, it may be better to have portables as they can carry everything they need (files and programs) on a single drive. Whether they are compatible with the computer they will run on is a different story.
It seems to me that when installing a program it shares with other programs some of its information, as well as using that of another avoiding repetition and space consumption, however, portable files seem to me that they are self-contained and when deleting the folder disappears and does not leave things on the pc that bother, because when uninstalling not everything is deleted and there are remnants that end up destroying the operating system.
