Use Awesome Font to generate PNG

I'm using PHP's GD to generate a PNG. But I would like to incorporate Awesome Font icons.

This is not working:

imagettftext($img,12,0,410,94,$cor,'Arial.tff',"<i class='fa fa-facebook'></i>/seu_facebook");

Any ideas?
