How are addition and subtraction operations with logic gates?

On base 10 the basic math operations are trivial for humans, however I know that computers work on a different basis, base 2. My question is on how, using the logical gates (AND , OR and NOT), you can do sum and subtraction.

p. I am already able to convert numbers between these two bases, and I understand the binary base
