I have this report in the field note has a text that comes from the database only it prints on a single page, cutting the rest of the text (if you have a lot of text)

The textfield field in ireport as much as jaspersoft has a checkbox: Stretch With Overflow , mark it. With it checked you can leave the textfield the default size of the others, it will expand dynamically according to the size of your text.
