ORA-00980: Synonym translation is no longer valid
Cause: A synonym was not translated to a legal target object. This can occur for one of the following reasons:
The target schema does not exist.
The target object does not exist.
The synonym specifies an incorrect database link ( database link ).
The synonym is not versioned but specifies a versioned target object.
Action: Change the synonym definition so that the synonym points to a legal target object.
Changing in kids, someone moved the target object (or even SCHEMA, db link, etc.) and forgot to re-create / delete the synonym.
