The intent of Markdown is to be easy to read and write, with readability being prevailing, and influenced by text-based emails.
Then use the Markdown created to convert to HTML.
I recommend reading from its creators John Gruber on Markdown syntax and Aaron Swartz on Markdown .
So I think it's best to avoid HTML and use the original Markdown as much as possible.
However, sometimes more things are needed than the original Mardown does, such as tables, and for this it is common to use eg # or the MultiMarkdown , among other options .
Hope this helps!
