I have a client site to optimize on Wordpress. It was rated 32 and 34 on the mobile and desktop test on PageSpeed Insights by Google, respectively.

I improved some items and the scores went up to 51 and 56.

I installed the WP Super Cache cache plugin and others to resolve the pending issues. However, even by enabling the Gzip and Cache compression settings, PageSpeed keeps telling me that they are both disabled.

I have already moved into .htaccess and entered the codes manually, but still it keeps warning me of missing these settings.

You are using two mods for this, mod_deflate and mod_gzip. I think one is enough, people usually recommend mod_deflate .
