Wordpress - File changes are not saved on the server

I am changing wordpress site direct from FTP, the edited files are saved at first, but a few minutes later the changes made are modified to the previous code. Does this have to do with file permission?

This has happened to me using some plugins. When I edited some information in wordpress, the plugin returned to its original configuration. They do this because changing it, should only be done by wordpress. If you update the plugin, it will continue to work with the changes you made to wordpress, because they are usually saved specifically in the database.
