I'm having some problems and I think if you were able to upgrade the mono library would have access to new functionality, could anyone do that?

New functionality is gained by updating the libraries, by default they are automatic and you are notified. If you want to manually check: Tools -> Options

Alsoupdatethepackagesin:Tools->NugetPackageManager
