How to check connection bandwidth of a server [closed]

1

Hello, I recently hired a Windows VPS server hosted in Germany. The contracted plan has unlimited traffic and 1Gbit / s connection. I want to use this server for streaming videos, so connection bandwidth is important to me.

However, if I connect remotely to the machine and test the speed of the www.speedtest.net connection, selecting a server near there in Germany, the ping is very low and the download and upload speed reaches more than 500 mbps, however , if I choose a city in São Paulo, the ping is greater than 200 and the download and upload speed drops to 11 mbps.

In theory 11mbps upload will not support 20 simultaneous connections to videos.

I'm doing it right? Is this the way I can measure the bandwidth of a server? Or what did I just determine the bandwidth available to a single customer in Sao Paulo?

Is there any tool that I can do this check?

Thank you.

Well let's go, speaking as an experience of those who also have a 1Gbps link, my link stays in Brazil itself, but using these speed testers online for a link like ours is very complicated, first you will not have guarantees of that the link used for the test will also be 1Gbps or that the server board that does this test is a giga network card as well. There is no way the link is 1Gbps and the server is connected by a 100Mbps network card. The test you did and that reached 11Mbps seems to be one of those cases where speed was limited by the server's network interface used to test link speed.

I particularly prefer to upload an http or ftp on the destination server put a giant iso in there and go on another 1gb link (there you have to see if you have another giga link or some friend that has whats rare rsrs) and download this file to check the speed, of course beyond the link be giga the network interface of the computer / notebook also need to be giga and be connected to giga directly on the router or switch to ensure that there is no limitation, to upload you can try making a put via ftp and see what speed comes.

In other words, if you need guarantees and know the real speed, in addition to your 1Gbps link you will need another gig link to do the tests.
