What are hosts on a computer network? [closed]

1

All computers connected on a network are hosts , right? According to Wikipedia the hosts are hardware that communicate with other nodes of the network, so a router can be considered a host ? And what differentiates a host from a node?

Another thing: By studying networks, I have seen that the routers have routing tables internally that allow it to route the packets from point to point until it reaches its final destination. What are these network points that packets are going through? For example: if I, who am in Rio Grande do Sul, am requesting something from a server that is in São Paulo, what are these points that he goes through? What are these routers?

Are my provider devices and a larger structure? Are these the nodes?

EDIT: Links in Portuguese or English that can explain these questions to me are welcome.
