How do I stop a sum?

I'm making an app where I have to pull a sensor (I used the accelerometer) and save the sum of the 3 parameters.

When I try to save this sum the app hangs, I find that the save command is causing it to crash, does anyone know what's wrong?

You did not initialize your EditText ;

You have declared public EditText txtSoma; but need to initialize.

For example: txtSoma = findviewbyid(R.id.txtSoma);

Try to put a try , at least avoid crashing, to make error treatments

sensorX = event.values[0];  
sensorY = event.values[1];  
sensorZ = event.values[2];  

float soma = 0.00;
try {
