PhpStorm has stopped recognizing some .php files

1

After I rename a php file, PhpStorm no longer recognizes this file as a .php file. The file goes without the colors, does not give suggestions, in other words, it remains as a generic file. The image below shows status.php in this case. How do I get it recognized as php?

Use the following command: Crtl + Alt + S then search for File Types.

Selecting Text option, see in the table below under Registered Patterns the name of your php file is missing.

When I had this problem on my end of the list it was a "ExamplePHP.php file" was removed and worked fine.

You renamed the file with the .txt extension. Just select it, go to Refactor > Rename and rename it back with the extension .php .
