What is Reason?

8

Recently I've heard of Reason , but I do not know what it's about, some call it a programming language, some of a syntax fed by OCaml, I know that it is led by Facebook and that it is very good for graphical applications / simple games, besides using JavaScript in the syntax, finally, what this technology is about? is it worth learning?

Reason is a language that mixes Ocaml and JavaScript. It was developed to make life easier for JavaScript programmers (so they do not need to learn Ocaml itself) and also to facilitate code generation by the compiler (Ocaml and JavaScript have some significant differences).

There is a compiler called BuckleScript that compiles from Ocaml / Reason for JavaScript.

In the page that I linkei says the following (in free translation):

Reason is not a new language, it's a new syntax and a set of tools

But in practical terms it can be said that it is a new yes language (which purposely has many similarities with Ocaml).
