Editing screens for manual production [closed]

2

[Note: Goal: I know it's not about programming, but I'm not sure about the limits of Stack Overflow PT yet, so it's also a test for our site.]

At the end of software development, it is time to develop a user manual. For this, I need to capture some screens and make some edits:

  • apply a blur to some part of the screen;
  • apply a mask that leaves a faded part of the screen and a more prominent region as if it were illuminated;
  • draw rectangles around parts of the screen to highlight some function;
  • add arrows to indicate parts of the screen;
  • add texts to explain parts of the screen.

Is there any software to do this? At first any image editing program would suit, but something is always missing in the programs I use. For example, in Gimp it is not easy to add rectangles and arrows.

[meta: another point about answers: maybe it was the case that each response indicates only one program so that the most useful programs could be voted on]

Maybe this answer in Software Recommendations will be useful to you.

Using PicPick you can capture the images and already work with them in the form of "whiteboard", making indications, annotations and other things.

The tool provides several features to work with the image, such as shadows, motion blur etc.

There is no ideal tool for this confection, but a set of tools.

Microsoft Word has the following features:

  • Draw rectangles around parts of the screen to highlight some function;
  • Add arrows to indicate parts of the screen;
  • Add texts to explain parts of the screen.

It also has several types of indexes (analytical, cross-referencing) and various text formatting capabilities.

For editing images, there is Adobe Photoshop . It has the following features:

  • Apply a blur / blur to some part of the screen;
  • Apply a mask that leaves a part of the screen dimmed and a more prominent region as if it were illuminated;

Alternatively, there are free solutions for this kind of editing:

Word Processors

Image Editors
