What is Xamarin? [duplicate]

It looks like Xamarin is very new. They say you can develop android or IOS or Windows Phone by C #. Is that right?

For those who are starting now, is it worth it or not?

Exactly, you program in C # and it "converts" into an Android and iOS App.

It has its advantages, one of them for not needing to know 2 languages (java or kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS) and create an App for both platforms.

Also the disadvantages, for example not having as many possibilities of customizations in the design of the App, and to be 100% native, may or may not have some performance loss.

There are a lot of stories about this, the shamans are not that "new", but have improved a lot since their release.
