A NAS is the most versatile, because some are compatible with Time Machine and have many more options than Time Capsule (for example, you can have web servers, ftp, mail, Flex...). You can also connect USB peripherals such as printers or surveillance cameras, and hard drives and pen drives. They are accessible from Mac, PC, iOS, Android, AppleTV, Android TV... any device that uses standard protocols.
Time Machine is undoubtedly the best backup option for Mac OS.
It not only copies data (documents, music, photos, etc) but also copies system settings. If your MB breaks down or if you change to a new one, restoring a copy of TM will have everything the same as on the old computer.
The other options of Cloud, Dropbox, etc are good for copying files but not system settings.
[updated] I correct, where I said Time Capsule meant Time Machine. Time Capsule is Apple's NAS.
