I'll tell you the real reason since no one has answered you correctly. The iPhone protectors, made by Apple, do cover the apple but they print it on the back of the protector because they have the rights to their logo. A company that creates iPhone protectors does not have the rights to the logo, so they have to open a space where the logo is already engraved on the iPhone itself in case their customers want to make it visible. Other companies that cover the logo do not print it on their own product and simply leave it covered.
