Avast I have definitely disabled because it is very instrusive, it ends up behaving almost like what it wants to fight.

Right-clicking on the Avast icon in the notification bar, select Avast Shield Control. In the context menu there are several options to disable Avast. If you select a certain amount of time, it will reactivate itself once the time has elapsed.
