I learned with Debian but I use CentOS because it is common in hosting.

openSUSE. Made in Germany, stable, 1st in KDE but just as good as GNOME, the community atmosphere is very good and responsive upstream. You can't imagine how powerful YaST can be.
Ps: you have to set up your own shortcuts, it doesn't come with ctrl + Alt + T.

Ubuntu, is the distro with the largest community, so if I have any problem I am sure that someone has already solved it before (advantages of using the most popular), and which has more programs easy to install, plus I am already familiar with the commands and style of debian (from time to time releases an error message).
Fedora, I was left as another option because it is the distro that I have felt more stable and solid, I have run perfect on desktop and laptops, plus it integrates seamlessly into my favorite environment Gnome.
